Really! Is it just crazy for every small business owner at the moment, or just me? Scratch that. I already know the answer.
Not only is it a constant struggle from a resourcing perspective, balancing that with cash flow, the budget and a thing called work life balance, sometimes it’s imossible.
Unless, of course you can use a good system ( or multiple systems) to make life easier.

YouTube’s first major move away from being a video-sharing site and towards an online TV destination began early this morning when it began streaming free live Indian Premier Cricket League matches.
In the article written in The Age, it is quoted as ”The cricket deal is part of YouTube’s ambition to become a destination for internet users as a place not just to upload content but watch it, in the form of movies, sport and concerts, said Leigh Terry managing partner of media buyers OMD. ”Rather than just going to YouTube and searching for a video they hope to become a destination much like a portal where people can go for a variety of content, not just sports,” he said
“I have a feeling that this is just going to be the first [of others] to come.”
It looks like video is really going to take off this year ..

Working in the IT industry can be very rewarding. It’s also as frustrating as hell on some occasions. One of those occasions is every time Microsoft release an update patch/upgrade, service pack or other patch to (uh! caugh caugh!) “FIX” a bug or exploit or what ever.
Yeah, I’m pretty cynical at the moment, as I’m currently in the process of data recovery due to a Microsoft fix on a clients Windows XP machine. An upgrade went through for a Nvidia video card and boom, BSOD.
In the same week, I’ve had another one go exactly the same way … but this time, an ACER laptop. Upgrade and .. book … BSOD ….
Cmon, Microsoft. You built the nightmare, but you won’t fix it ..??
I love my Mac right now .. !

For starters. Working smarter – not harder.
Where to start ? Right here ! .. With the following tools, a simple strategy can be added in and out in place for working smarter.
Number One – Starting with Google Apps.
Here are Aquafruit Media, we run our business on Google Apps. Why? It’s easy, clean, spam free, hosted (SAAS solution), robust, stable and …… need I say more. Yep – COST EFFECTIVE!
There are about 63,100,000 google queries for google apps. So that either means that it’s working or there are a lot of complaints. As per the true nature of Google (if you haven’t read the google story, you really should) their dedication, innovation and never ending wealth of solutions is amazing. Not to mention the scope of their support and advertising solutions.
So, why Google Apps?

At Aquafruit Media, we use Google Apps for our business, for a majority of our clients and we would recommend it for our potential clients.
Number Two : Base Camp
What is basecamp? “The” project based collaboration tool. Without a doubt, this tool is awesome! Have a look at their client list :
So, how does basecamp save me time ?
Easily. If any of you out there have used MS project, or some of the other project management tools on the market, you will all know one thing. First of all, there is a learning curve. If any one tells you that MS project is easy to use a a tool they are straight out either lying, or have been using it for years (hence they know it back to front)
For those of us who are I.T. administrators, you will know that using MS project is a shared/corporate environment – where MS project and portfolio servers are required, there is another level of complexity.
With basecamp, once again, no I.T. administrators required. No learning curve (or a small one at the most). Simple, easy to use, fast, hosted (once again, no infrastructure required) and also, cost effective.
